First of all I just want to say hello to my readers and friends and I apologize for being away for a while. I am expecting and am on my 7 month and honestly with so much going on have not been able to share with my audience the in's and out's of life.
On that note I have decided to write today about the swine flu epidemic that us as Americans we have been forced to deal with due to the lack of a quick response from the health authorities in Mexico D.F. As some of you may or may not know Mexico's first outbreaks of the swine flu was in February and from stories I myself have read many citizens who were affected or believed to be affected who had called ambulances were left in the cold because EMS workers were afraid of picking them up to take them to local area hospitals for fear of exposure to the virus. In other words they were afraid of doing their job. As of this week deaths in Mexico have totaled 149 and I have even heard somewhere that they are concerned of shortage of the commonly known Tamiflu.
Now getting to the states and New York specifically right now it is reported 49 people affected, 16 new probable cases and five schools closed with all that Governor Patterson & Mayor Bloomberg are telling us not to panic and just follow certain safety protocol to stay safe. Frankly, although there have been no deaths announced among those affected with the virus it should be expected according to Dr. Menmet Oz. As mentioned by him previously the next seven days are crucial in determining if the disease will reach a plato or if it will worsen. With the prediction that by Sunday it will reach a global status I feel very concerned that things will get worse before they get better. I have a bone to pick with the Mayor regarding the safety of riding the trains with this epidemic. Just this morning while my husband was on his way to work a lady sneezed outright without covering her mouth. My husband was so outraged at her lack of ettiquette or as my grandmother would have said "lack of home training" he went totally off on the lady asking her if she was aware of the swine flu situation she cursed and said "Who the F#$% are you"? Others in train joined in and gave her a piece of their minds as well as my husband who told her " I am a man who's wife is expecting a baby and don't want my wife to be sick or my baby to be affected because someone like you was so careless and could not do a simple thing like covering your mouth or asking for a tissue". It just seemed interesting that many were critisizing our vice president Joe Biden about the remark he made about avoiding public transportation and then Mayor Bloomberg having camera's follow him on his way to work and the icing on the cake was this situation on the train today. How can anyone think that riding in NYC transit is safe from germs? It never has been! Bloomberg needs to ride the L train...seriously! There are all kinds of elements riding the trains not everyone is clean. I have seen homeless with feces running down their pants sleeping stretched out in the subway car where people have had to move to the next car to avoid the stench. Can you imagine who has to clean that at the end of the day? Probably not even knowing who slept there just hours before. How about those people who hold on to those subway poles and sneeze rub their noses and hold on to the pole again. New York citizens are exposed to those germs every single day and even get sick from it. So why would it be okay to ride the train with germs and microbes all over. Yes we can walk around with hand sanitizer (which by the way they say does not work well) by now you must be saying what can we do? Panic is definitely not the answer what is the answer is for us to individually inform ourselves about this virus the antibiotics and use caution when in enclosed areas. I am walking with sanitizer, a small bar of soap, avoid closed areas if possible, when I get home I hold my breath and spray my clothes with lysol to kill any contaminants on my clothing since it only takes on droplet on clothing to contaminate us. That is why they say facemasks cannot protect us because after a while moisture droplets go through the masks they filter nothing out so imagine what we carry on our clothes. I come in the house after spraying wash my hands face etc...and then wipe with alcohol the door handle down. It may sound extreme and who knows we may even be afflicted eventually but we need to try something. Not just walk around like all is okay. Some people are either of two extremes either they panic to the point that a sneeze sends them to the hospital to see if they have it or they feel invincible and feel they won't get it. Sadly, people don't realize the dangers til someone they love is affecfted.
Lastly, please be safe take care of one another learn all you can learn and read between the lines follow your instincts and do what is best for you and your family.
While on the web I was searching for a site where you can advertise rental property as well as personal items or services. I was doing a favor for a friend who asked me to look into some rental websites for her to advertise some property she would like to put for sale. I came across rentlocalstuff.com as I have always done with websites I read everything the site has to offer their members. I will tell you here what they do have to offer and later I will tell you what I think of their website.
What rentlocalstuff.com offers:
They offer both individual and business memberships for a nominal monthly to quarter fees. Advertisements can be placed in your area including all 50 states. Members also receive an unlimited amount of postings to their ad from interested customers as well as having the ability to contact other members of the site at no cost to them. As advertised on rentlocalstuff.com they are on over 150 search engines throughout the net.
What rentlocalstuff.com lacks:
Now i will tell you what I did not like about the site. The layout of the site was somewhat unattractive as well as unappealing. You must definitely be a member in order to view advertisements which limits the amount of customers that may view your ad. Because of their member limitation it does not give the interested party an idea of what the ads look like. I myself tried to look at ads in New York and it would not let me because I needed to be a member. There is no way for me to tell if a customer can post pictures of their property, items or services or what it would look like in the end. Lastly, this site seems to be fairly new on the web try to look for a company that has been around for a while just to get an idea of customer satisfaction.
Suggestion:
In my opinion there are many online sites that do these advertisement services for low cost to free that you may want to look into first before taking steps towards membership here. Do your online shopping and see what best suits you when it comes to posting property like land, homes or rental property if you want to get noticed you might have to reach more than 150 search engines as well as spending more money on the advertisement but make sure the layout is to your style after all it must be appealing to the eye in order to make final sale. If it is items or services that you would like to place ads for the expense may be nil which in this case does not have to be so elaborate. Take time and do your research online & happy hunting!
Hoping this review was helpful...till next time!
Did you watch the baseball game or the debate last night?
I did not watch the baseball game. I decided to watch the debate though I had missed half of it. While listening to both sides I could not help but notice both opponents body language and I must say Barak Obama stayed calm and serene much of the time where McCain rolled his eyes, shifted his eyes and at times looked even fluttered or bothered by what was said. It was great to watch them that close up and watch their behavior. If you can't have patience or remain calm when someone criticizes you then how are you to deal with becoming president of the United States. It was interesting to watch these two candidates talk though McCain's strategy failed to say the least.
As I am writing this I can't help but chuckle as I remember what my husband said to me last night. We as a married couple have a very weird set of hours I work during the day he works at night so basically we are two ships passing each other by every single day. When I am up to go to work he is snoring away and when he gets home I am on cloud nine lost in dream land. The difference is that while he is sleeping and I am getting ready for work I tend to be very considerate of his sleep time. I don't stay in the room making noises moving things around opening and closing draws or closets. I take my stuff and leave the room have my coffee take a shower get dressed and just go back to the room to give him a kiss and I am off to work. When I am sleeping he comes in he watches the t.v which does not bother me but then he starts laughing loudly at a show he may be watching he may eat in there too. He even talks to me while I sleep and all that commotion wakes me up. As it is I am kind of a light sleeper I am not fully gone or awake unless I am truly exhausted then I could sleep till the next millennium. The thing is the other night he came in and I was still awake it was about 1AM and since I hardly see him anyway I decided to stay up till he came in spoke for about 15-20 minutes exchanging our days events we cuddled and I did not even know what time I was off in dream land. The next thing I remember which is quite unexplainable really because my sleeping pattern is so weird though I was dreaming I was sort of awake too and was biting my lip and rubbing my nose my husband said "what's wrong with you?" I came back and said "nothing I am scratching my nose". "Problem"? He said "no"! But I have been trying to fall asleep for the last 40 minutes but your damn loud snoring won't let me! Can you imagine my response? After all he is NOT a silent sleeper either. I dare to say when he snores the curtains can't help but sway and the shades shake to the point he leaves the room with no oxygen. Literally...lol! His mouth is usually open and his head is leaned back like he is waiting to catch flies...lol! I was so aggravated "I said okay so the prince can't sleep huh"? He said when you sleep on your back you tend to snore too loudly you HAVE to sleep on your side. Are you kidding me? I sleep however is comfortable to sleep. If you can't deal with my snoring put on some ear plugs! By morning I was really exhausted and thinking about the whole conversation if you can call it one. And I stood to reason I may have to do something about my snoring. I also started thinking how my snoring was bothering him and his snoring doesn't faze me. It doesn't bother me and I am not really one to go for the tit-for tat. Wondering how those nose strips really work or not? Has anyone used them? Does anyone have any suggestions? Would love to hear feedback on this!

Would you rather be rich or famous? Why?
Submitted by Chris Vaughn.
Hmmmmm! This is one question to ponder on especially when I have never wanted to be either of the two. I have always said when people have asked me would I want to be rich I'd always reply I would rather be comfortable. Comfortable meaning have enough money where I can live and help my family and friends and not be worrying about bills. I cannot deny the fact I have played lotto a couple of times with the principal idea that maybe one day I can win though i am quite clear on the fact that the chances are slim to none. Even when I have pressed my luck the first thing I usually say is well if I win I will clear off my debts invest some and the rest I will help whomever crosses my path and needs it. My grandmother God rest her soul used to say "why do I want to be rich? I am not taking the money with me when I die I'd rather live comfortably." Another thing about being rich is its not always a good thing. Having money is like a double edged sword sure it helps us get the things we want when we want it and at other times it can turn us into empty arrogant beings. I have been around wealthy people some are okay others are a mess what I call m&m's (major messes). Being wealthy does not always equal happiness. Life has proved you can have all the money in the world and still be unhappy still be empty so what is the point of having all the money? In addition if every wealthy person gave up half their fortune everyone in the world would be in a better situation than what it is today.
As far as fame is concerned I would not want to be famous either. It may be nice for a while but who would really enjoy to have hundreds of photographers chasing them wherever they go. I enjoy my privacy and coming in and out of my home when I want to without being hounded by people asking questions and taking pictures. I relish my independent lifestyle which would obviously be ruined by fame. I would no longer own my life it would be owned by all those people out there who don't have one chasing me around from place to place.
TGIF to everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. This week I have decided to post for you 13 of my favorite videos of course as always I have many favorites but keeping with the theme here I go:

What tools and tricks do you use to increase your business’ productivity?
Sponsored by HP.
- First you have to enjoy what you do. Enjoying it makes you more productive and successful at the task you are trying to accomplish.
- Work in bursts...I usually work all day long but in bursts for an hour 1/2 or so then I stop to do something else or take a break. Working in small bursts allows you to mentally rest and refocus what you want to get done.
- Evenings are more productive for me to do work online. During the day I catch up on important phone calls or emails I have to reply. Also during the summer for me it is also actually cooler and quieter to work at night so that would be my next suggestion choose a particular time of day where you feel most comfortable to get work done.
- I like to take notes and plan out what I will be doing the next day that way when I get up I am ready and focused with the tasks I have set for myself for that day and ready to tackle them.
- I would say keep a notepad or memo pad handy to take notes or I like to use my smartphone's notepad when I am away from the office.
- Though I like to keep busy and work it is definitely important to get enough sleep and bed rest or else your productivity level will be low
- I must admit this one....my office space tends to be a mess consumed by mail, cd's, statements and all kinds of stuff that people leave on my desk. I constantly have to clean it or I just can't focus it is a great distraction. So whenever possible clean up your space!
- Some people would say turn off your television because it is a distraction. For me I never watch it! I always listen to it and usually am listening to something productive or educational I am always plugged to PBS and it works for me. Listen to Globetrekker!
- Keeping a calendar is great! I never did before but now I find it is crucial to keep up with not only upcoming appointments but also things that were already done.
- Though I am great at multi-tasking I find that multi-tasking is really not that productive especially when you are trying to run your own business. I try to accomplish one task at a time to its completion.
- Set goals for yourself....by next week you want to get ? accomplished and stick to it and get it done. I know its hard but you will gain a great amount of satisfaction to know you did it and you met your goal.
- I love this one...when my phone rings at home my answering machine goes off and picks up the call if it is someone I want to talk to I can pick it up if it is a telemarketer I won't even bother getting up from my seat. That's two minutes I did not waste to pick up the phone.
- Take breaks in between and eat a sensable meal...I usually don't I am a coffee addict but once in a while I eat my fruits and replace my coffee with iced tea.
- Stay on top of your game and keep up with technology go to seminars and career bootcamp I just went to one and it was fabulous. It helped me reorganize and consider where I want my business to go and how I should get it there. Also networking with other career minded people allows you to exchange ideas and grow as well as expand.
It is unbelievable and absolutely appalling that due to the fuel increases in this country it has even affected the price of MILK. As of tomorrow a gallon of milk in New York City will be $4.37. As far as I know cows are not imported they are right here in this country and the rise of milk is going to affect many people who are going to have to decide whether they should buy the gas or a gallon of milk for their families. Those who don't have a car and are retired are going to have to minimize their coffee or milk intake just to make it through the month. What is the deal with this? Unfortunately, I see no end in sight with the failed economy in this country!
